Supervision is a formal, professional, confidential, working relationship in which the personal resources of the supervisor and supervisee are concentrated towards aiming the competence of the supervisee in their job of helping clients.
The purpose of supervision is: the professional development of the counsellor the quality and safety of client work the welfare of the client and supervisee Supervision enables supervisees to find their own particular way of being a counsellor or psychotherapist. It is not counselling or psychotherapy, although it might touch on the exploration of personal awareness and values in order to help with countertransference issues.
Evaluation is an ongoing and crucial aspect of supervision and should include an opportunity for the supervisee to give feedback on the experience of supervision.
Supervision can be offered at my private practice in Harpenden, or for group or organisational supervision, at an agreed location suitable for all parties.
